Please support the 2017 SCSU Alumni Band Association Scholarship Roast, on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Mariott Hotel. This year's roast will honor the legendary H. Wade Johnson ('79), a distinguished alumnus and former S.C. State Assistant Director of Bands. He is currently the Director of Bands at Benedict College in Columbia, SC.
Be prepared for a night filled with laughter and memories of good times.
The event will be held at: Columbia Marriott Hotel 1200 Hampton Street Columbia, SC 29201
Attire: Semi-formal (no jeans or tennis shoes)
Parking: Parking Garage (hourly rate) or limited street parking
There are three ways to help: 1) Purchase tickets to the event using our Paypal button. Single tickets- $40.00 Couple tickets- $70.00
2) Make a donation in any amount to the SCSU Alumni Band Scholarship fund by using the DONATE button on the right. All donations $40 or more received by April 28, 2017 will be printed in the program booklet. Donations are tax-deductible.

BIOGRAPHY
H. Wade Johnson ('79) is a native of McClellanville, South Carolina. He earned his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Instrumental Music Education and Secondary Counseling at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg and a Masters Degree in Jazz Education from Vander Cook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. Professor Johnson is currently the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. He has performed with the late “DIZZY” Gillespie (his musical idol), The Temptations, Fred Wesley and the New JB’s (currently), The Hawkins Family, Marvin Sapp and many other artists. The scripture that has kept Professor Johnson grounded is Colossians 3:23-24 “ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” His life’s motto is “LIFE IS GRAND”!!!
